Hey guys so I got your package like 2 days ago, and THANKS soooo much for all the goodies! They're amazing! K so I saw all the dear elders that got copied to the mail, but i havent gotten the actual letters yet, hopefully thats tomorrow, once I get out into the field you guys can just stick to emails, but until then keep sending the Dear elders, I'll let you know how many went through.
So we went to the market last week and it was crazy! Every body I talked to had a huge culture shock. I only got a hacky sac for like 80 cents but there was a ton of other stuff that I wanted to buy! The only problem is that I can't send any packages until I'm out of the ccm. But I already know what I'm getting you guys! and it will be cool! ( hopfuly is doesn't cost to much to send)
So a super crazy thing happened this week that startled me even more than being sick the first week, and when I tell you this, keep in mind that I'm tied for last place in my district for being able to understand and speak Spanish.
On Saturday some random guy walks into our class and asks if there is an Elder Frandsen in the room. I raise my hand and he says to follow him, he walks me over to the Presidents room and tells my to wait. I was sweating bullets at that point thinking what in the world did I do wrong! Finally the President opens the door and invites me in. He starts off by asking me what characteristics a leader should have, I rattle off a couple seminary answer, and then he says, I'm sure you're well aware that there is an opening for a new Zone Leader.... Would you be willing to be that zone leader... All I could think to say was,'' If the lord wants me to be a zone leader, I guess I will''. Long story short me and another Elder (who doesnt speak english) are now the zone leaders of 4 district!!!
We had a meeting later, and come to find out all of the meetings that I will have will be completely done in Spanish. I had no clue what they were saying. At the end of the meeting they handed me 3 sheets of paper. I finally got them translated by Elder Lewis, and it turns out I was in charge of All of Sacrament Meeting, All of Priesthood meeting, and a devotional later that night. All of with I had to direct COMPLETELY in Spanish. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I about died why would they pick the weakest person at speaking Spanish to be a zone leader.
Eventually I found people to play the piano, pray,and lead music. Its getting better, and I think I might make it, but I could really use the gift of tongues right now. I know with the Lords help, anything is possible, and I'm clinging to that promise.
There is a couple more storys that have come from being the ZL but I don't have time to write them. Ill sent them to you guys the moment I get into the field!
